Social Media Workshop for Accommodation Providers

COURSE OVERVIEW

Vancouver, Coast & Mountains (VCM) is offering a full day social media workshop for their accommodation providers. The intent of the course is to increase awareness and understanding of social tools for tourism businesses.

The workshop will be conducted by Think! Social Media and has been compiled in conjunction with, Paul Cubbon (UBC) and William Bakker (Tourism BC). (See Appendix 2)

COURSE OUTLINE

The content of the workshop is geared specifically towards accommodation providers and will cover the following five topic areas: 

  • Understanding the importance of Trip Advisor
  • Understanding Social Media
  • Marketing on Facebook: Community building and Facebook Ads
  • Twitter as a communication tool
  • How Blogs can help you increase sales

DETAILS

Date: The following dates will be offered throughout October and November of this year. (Workshops will run from 9:30am – 2:30pm. Space will be limited)

  • Vancouver, BC - October 7, 2010
  • Sechelt, BC - October 14, 2010
  • Richmond, BC - October 18, 2010
  • Whistler, BC - October 26, 2010
  • Abbotsford, BC - November 9, 2010

Cost: Full day training workshop: $1500 per person

 * Full cost of the course can be covered by the WTIP Grant (click here for details)

Please note: Registration will only be confirmed upon approval of grant funding unless otherwise requested by your organization. Applicants who do not receive their grant funding may cancel their registration or choose to pay separately. 

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR THE WTIP GRANT?

1. Does your organization fit into one of these types?

    • Non-profit society
    • Partnership
    • Sole Proprietorship
    • Incorporated Company

2. Do you have between 1 and 50 employees?

3. Are you applying for an employee to take the workshop (not an owner)? 
* Grant is only available for employees of the organization.  Owners may not apply.

4. Are you a BC company in good standing?

What now?

If you have answered yes to all of the above questions you are eligible to apply for the WTIP grant.

STEP 1:
Download the WTIP grant application form and the Accommodation Providers Workshop Proposal.

STEP 2:
Print out both documents and fill in the grant application form using the proposal as a reference (i.e. dates, training provider, pricing & how training relates to boxes in Section B.1). Mail these two documents to:

Chemistry Consulting should contact you within 4 weeks of your submission.  Funding is not guaranteed.

STEP 3:
Fill out the registration form below to reserve your spot in the workshop of your choice.

Please note:
This application will reserve a spot for your organization in the training course. Registration will only be confirmed upon approval of grant funding unless otherwise requested by your organization.

Applicants who do not receive their grant funding may cancel their registration or choose to pay separately for the course. Payment to VCM must be received two (2) weeks prior to scheduled course date.

Funding is limited and the grant can take upwards to 4 weeks to process.
